Drink Beer With the Pros

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 5, 2009) -

ATTENTION: Food & Drink, Leisure, Lifestyle and Retailing Editors.

On May 14, 2009, Canada's top ranking beer judges will be conducting a beer tasting, and has made spaces available for media representatives to taste with the pros. In a blind tasting, a diverse selection of beers will be judged, and scored. This is an exceptional opportunity for media representatives to not only promote beer literacy, as well as the appreciation of beer, but to judge beer based on its characteristics against the standards of the Beer Judges Certification Program, (

Paul Dickie, Canada's top ranking beer judge, and certified Grand Master will be joined by Craig Nichols, Canada's second ranked beer judge, and Mirella Amato in a tasting of 15 beers, covering a range of styles.

As opposed to wine, beer is a reflection of the vision of a brewmaster, who through planning and pilot brews, and continuing adjustments to a recipe in development has the opportunity to bottle an elixir that reflects his or her vision. Because the attributes of beer can be measured and recorded, a beer recipe can be adjusted year in and year out to ensure consistency. World class beers do not suffer from the same vagaries of Mother Nature that vintners face when making wine.

The opportunity to taste beer with the pros has been made available due to the request of the beer judges, and has been approved by the client who has commissioned the judging to assess objectively the quality of a series of beers. A maximum of 3 media representatives will be able to attend. If you wish to attend, please contact Pauline Le Bras at asking to attend by May 10, 2009. Additionally, subject to the approval of the client, results of the tasting may be released to the media. If you wish to receive the results, please reply to asking for the results.
