Drug Patent Decision at Supreme Court -- Wolf Greenfield Lawyer Can Comment on Merck v. Integra

BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 13, 2005 -- The Supreme Court today ruled for Merck KGaA in its appeal of a decision previously won by Integra Life Sciences. The Supreme Court vacated the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit's decision and remanded the case to the lower court.

John Van Amsterdam, Ph.D., a senior attorney specializing in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and molecular biology with Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks, P.C., can comment on this landmark case.

The decision will impact holders of patents on compounds, including universities and biotech companies, he says. The decision should limit the range of activities that can be viewed as infringing.
