Richmond will soon be home to the Drummond Club, a unique, private athletic and leisure facility with a project value of $150 million. Amenities will include an Olympic-sized ice surface and conventional ice surface, multi-purpose gymnasium, 6-lane/25-metre swimming pool, fitness centre, indoor/outdoor tennis courts, spa, three restaurants (ranging from bistro to fine dining) and 2,600 revenue-generating family-sized lockers.

The facility is set to open in late 2016, with membership sales starting in summer 2015.

"The Drummond Club will address the lack of full-amenity private clubs in Richmond, and strengthen B.C.'s competitive figure skating community," said project lead Dennis Drummond. "The next 20 years will bring a million new residents to this beautiful part of the world, and I'm proud to announce this legacy project that will enrich the lives of families for generations to come, while providing unmatched value for their investment."

The Drummond Club will feature the Patrick Chan Elite Figure Skating School. Three-time World Champion and 2014 Olympic Silver Medalist Patrick Chan participated in the announcement at the club's future site, along with representatives of Skate Canada BC/Yukon.

"This state-of-the-art arena will add vital space and high-performance training to B.C.'s competitive skating community," said Ted Barton, Executive Director of Skate Canada BC/Yukon. "This project is ultimately about supporting the province's next generation of skaters, and Skate Canada is proud to help make this vision a reality.

Chan will serve as the facility's Advisory Director of Skating Operations. World and Olympic skating coach Joanne McLeod's expertise and leadership will provide high-performance training for the region's competitive skaters.

The club will be Western Canada's only facility with both an Olympic-sized and conventional rink, both fully-dedicated to figure skating. Located at 1751 Savage Road, the club will strengthen the province's competitive figure skating community, and address a lack of full-amenity, private clubs in Richmond.
