Duarte Design, Inc. Recognized for Supporting Role in Oscar-Winning Documentary "An Inconvenient Truth"

Firm Helped Create Multimedia Slideshow at Center of Documentary

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 26, 2007 -- Former Vice President Al Gore's documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" won an Academy Award last night for "Best Documentary, Features," and playing an important supporting role was Bay Area multimedia agency Duarte Design, Inc.

Duarte helped design a critical element of "An Inconvenient Truth," Gore's multimedia presentation on the threat of global warming. The New York Times referred to the film's images as "stark, illuminating and powerful."

"Duarte Design played an important role in building a presentation that so clearly expressed how humans are driving the recent shifts in drought patterns, storm strength, polar ice-cap melting, and other factors that contribute to global warming," said Kalee Kreider, director of communications for Mr. Gore. "With this dynamic presentation, Al Gore effectively communicated to a global audience the serious problems we face because of global warming, and followed up with an impassioned call to action."

Duarte Design, founded in 1988, is unique in its presentation-design focus. The firm began working with Al Gore in 2003 to build the presentation used for his climate change advocacy talks given around the world, and later for "An Inconvenient Truth," which also won an Academy Award for Melissa Etheridge's "I Need To Wake Up," the winner in "Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song."

"Duarte Design prides itself in visual storytelling and communicating complex material such as the rise of greenhouse gases in a simple, compelling and surprising way that is able to reach a broad audience," said Nancy Duarte, co-founder and principal of Duarte Design. "As we did with 'An Inconvenient Truth,' Duarte Design works with clients to create presentations that are memorable and lead to actionable results."
