Duran Ventures Inc.: Aguila Project Sampling Results

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 18, 2006) - Glenn O' Gorman, P. Eng., President of Duran Ventures Inc. (NEX:DRV.H), and David A. Bending, P.Geo., VP Exploration of Duran, both Qualified Persons as defined in National Policy 43-101 are pleased to provide the following sampling results from the Aguila Copper Molydenum Porphyry Project in Peru. Duran is earning a 50% interest in the 1,100 hectare Aguila Project in Ancash, Peru (News Release June 23, 2003) from MacMillan Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:MMG). The exploration work as reported was planned and supervised by Mr. Bending. All samples were delivered to BIS Inspectorate Laboratories in Lima, Peru for preparation and were subjected to ICP analysis following Aqua Regia digestion. Many Cu and Mo results exceeded the ICP/AQR upper limits and were re-assayed using AQR/AA analyses at the BIS Inspectorate Laboratory in Reno Nevada.

These are the results of an ongoing surface and underground mapping and sampling program designed to define and develop the priority Cu-Mo targets on the Aguila Property. A total of 298 systematic surface and underground rock chip samples with true widths ranging from 1.0 to 3.0 metres were collected. Of these samples, 216 were collected from tunnels historically excavated during exploration and mining operations in the early 1970's. The access tunnel was collared in the quartzite country rocks and traversed the southern and central parts of the mineralized Aguila diorite body. Sampling these underground workings has provided Duran with significant geological data from beneath the existing open pit. The tunnel sampling results are tabulated in the attached table and graphically displayed on the attached sketch map.

A portion of the central Aguila Target was sampled in the intervals called El Aguila Adit Segment 4 and El Aguila Adit C, both of which only partially traverse the target and terminate in mineralization. Segment 4 averaged 0.67% Cu and 0.039% Mo (0.041% MoO2) across 111.0 metres and Adit C averaged 0.68% Cu and 0.033% Mo (0.044% MoO2) across 109.4 meters. These grades vary slightly from those reported from historical drilling but tested horizontal tunnels intersecting different sections of the intrusive target. For example, the historical 1971 DDH #8 yielded a reported average grade of 1.07% Cu and 0.043% Mo (0.057% MoO2) across a vertical drilled interval of 236.83 meters. Historical drilling results are shown for comparison purposes on the sketch map. The sampling results obtained compare favourably with the available historical information and support the company's plans for systematic drilling to explore the extent of this porphyry system.

Mapping, surface and underground sampling of the Pasacancha Porphyry and Breccia which is located approximately 2 kilometers to the east of the Aguila Target has identified another mineralized target which will be subject to a systematic evaluation program. The Company plans to evaluate the Aguila, the Aguila East and the Pasacancha targets as part of the ongoing surface and underground work to outline new targets in this highly prospective 1,100 hectare property. The analytical results from all this work and the structural data developed by mapping and sampling of the adits has provided important information for planning and execution of the pending drilling program. The data will also be used in the eventual development of a 43-101 compliant resource estimate for the Aguila Property. Management is pleased with these results which aid to demonstrate the potential size and importance of the Aguila Property.

Confirmatory sampling of the historical drill core from Rio Tinto's previously drilled hole AGD 1 with reported values of 0.63% Cu and 0.04% Mo (0.053% MoO2) across a drilled interval of 400.15 metres has been completed with results to be announced once they have been processed and interpreted.

An independent 43-101 Summary Report on the Aguila Property can be found on MacMillan's website at macmillangold.com under "Other Properties - Peru". Duran also own a 100% interest in the Smoky Valley Uranium Project in Nevada (News Release October 4, 2005) and the 30,151 hectare Miller Creek Uranium Property in the Athabaska Basin of Saskatchewan (News release May 4, 2006). Work on the uranium projects is planned to commence after acceptance of the Company's listing application on the TSX Venture Exchange.
