TripAdvisor TripIndex Ski Names Durango "Top Value Ski Destination in North America"


DURANGO, CO--(Marketwire - Dec 18, 2012) - Mother Nature dropped 20 inches of powder at Durango Mountain Resort over the weekend, the most snow at any southwestern U.S. ski resort. Heavy snowfall is again in the forecast for the resort starting today. Durango Mountain Resort was recently recognized as the Top Value Ski Resort for the 2012/2013 season by TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel website. When comparing 25 popular ski destinations in the U.S. and Canada, TripAdvisor announced that Durango is the most affordable ski destination in North America at a cost index of $209.65, approximately half of the average of all destinations on the index.

TripAdvisor compared costs of hotel stays, lift tickets, basic ski rentals and restaurant meals to rank the resorts. According to TripAdvisor, Crested Butte, Telluride, and Vail are among the top 10 "Most Expensive North American Ski Destinations" in this year's index. With a total of $538 for Crested Butte, $567 for Telluride and $802 for Vail, Durango's index is less than half the cost of these destinations.
