Dust Networks Integrates Kilopass Memory in New Family of Wireless Sensor Networking Products

XPM Offers Reliable, Secure, Silicon-Proven Embedded Non-Volatile Memory for Dust's Code Storage and Analog Trim

SANTA CLARA, CA and HAYWARD, CA--(Marketwire - June 12, 2007) - Dust Networks™, the leading provider of highly reliable, low-power wireless sensor networking (WSN) systems, and Kilopass Technology, a leading provider of semiconductor non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP), announced today that Kilopass XPM™ memory is being used in Dust Networks' embedded WSN products. Dust Networks' SmartMesh-XD Mote-on-Chip™ (MoC) products employ the XPM non-volatile storage for analog tuning and secure storage of proprietary firmware.

"Our application required in-package programming and a low manufacturing cost. We considered many alternatives, but found that the Kilopass XPM non-volatile solution best met these needs. Kilopass' XPM memory also offered the reliability and physical security needed for our SoC-based products. We were impressed by Kilopass' attention to detail, customer support, and silicon proven technology," said Saeid Moshkelani, Vice President of Engineering and Operations for Dust Networks.

"We are pleased to be selected by Dust Networks for their wireless communications products," said Charles Ng, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Kilopass. "They are among the leading companies who are implementing secure embedded wireless applications with our XPM embedded memory."

Kilopass' XPM Memory is embedded in Dust's SoC-based products, and uses a standard CMOS logic process with no extra steps. It is easily programmed in the factory and is virtually impossible to reverse engineer.

Dust Networks' SmartMesh-XD products combine extremely low-power radio technology and robust networking capabilities with the industry-proven Time Synchronized Mesh Protocol (TSMP) in a MoC, setting new power and performance benchmarks for reliable wireless sensor networking. Dust's network-ready MoC products provide a quantum reduction in power consumption, using 80 percent less power than comparable commercially available radios. Dust's products achieve greater than 99.9 percent reliability in the face of harsh RF environments, and battery-operated motes typically live for more than five to ten years. Embedded Kilopass XPM allows for tuning system timing and storing proprietary firmware on chip.
