Dynapower Installs MPS-100 Inverter for Micro-Grid Showcase at Black & Veatch World Headquarters

SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT--(Marketwired - Mar 3, 2015) - Dynapower Company, the global leader in energy storage inverters, announced that it has completed installation of its market-leading MPS-100 inverter as part of an integrated micro-grid system at Black & Veatch's World Headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas. The renewable-energy-plus-storage micro-grid consists of 50 kilowatts (kW) of rooftop solar panels, two 65 kW natural gas micro-turbines, and a 100 kWh battery connected to the Dynapower MPS-100 kW energy storage inverter.

The system is designed for "behind-the-meter" (customer-sited) use, including both grid-connected and standalone operation (islanding) of a portion of the facility. The system also includes a self-guided computer touch screen in the World Headquarters that highlights the micro-grid's real-time performance for demonstration and educational purposes.

"Black & Veatch is a leading global engineering, procurement and construction company, with a strong track record in energy storage project development," said Adam Knudsen, Dynapower President. "We're pleased that they selected Dynapower's MPS-100 energy storage inverter to be an integral part of this innovative headquarters micro-grid."

Said Tom Phillips, Vice President and Director of Renewable Energy for Black & Veatch, "Dynapower's expertise in inverter technology is an important element in our micro-grid system. Also, combined with Black & Veatch's engineering and construction capabilities, our strategic alliance with Dynapower is offering clients a wide range of transmission and distribution-level energy storage solutions."

About the MPS-100 Series
Dynapower's MPS-100 series of bi-directional inverters are the most technically advanced 100 kW energy storage inverters available for grid-tied and micro-grid applications. The MPS-100 can function as a single- or dual-DC input inverter, with each input configurable for either battery-based or photovoltaic (PV) operation. The MPS-100 is an integrated solution containing all required AC breakers and protective features, as well as DC disconnects and fuses. It offers end users and energy storage integrators a cost advantage when compared to non-integrated systems requiring additional add-on items.
