Dynatek Announces Off-Axis Stent and Stent-Graft Testing

SPRINGFIELD, MO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 18, 2006 -- Dynatek dalta Scientific Instruments has improved its accelerated durability testing by developing testing that provides anatomically representative vessel designs in testers that better replicate physiological fluid dynamics. This off-axis testing integrates unidirectional fluid flow as would be experienced in vivo, while providing accelerated pulsation. The result is an environment where stents and stent-grafts experience loading from the cyclic expansion and contraction of the vessel, as well as from the interaction of the fluid with the device.

Recent presentations at the annual Cleveland Clinic Stent Summit, held August 24-26, provide new insight into potential failure modes for stents and stent-grafts, and suggest that fluid dynamics and non-radial loading may be more culpable than radial stress in device failures. This information helps reinforce the importance of in vitro testing under conditions that best replicate the environment into which devices will be deployed.

About Dynatek Laboratories:

Dynatek Laboratories is the leader in accelerated in vitro testing of cardiovascular devices, with over twenty years' experience. When the need for in vitro testing of vascular stents arose, Dynatek met the need by offering the first stent testing in a dynamic, pulsatile environment. Having performed testing for many of the largest and smallest of companies, we are equipped to meet the testing needs of each individual client. As changes have occurred in stent materials, designs, locations of deployment, and standards for testing, and as more data has been collected concerning failure modes in vivo, Dynatek has modified its capabilities to address these changes.

At Dynatek Laboratories, we strive to meet the needs of each client. Whether the needs be straight-forward radial fatigue testing, complex bend testing, off-axis testing or coating durability testing, we work with each client individually to ensure that their needs are met.
