dynaTrace Announces New Enterprise-Class Application Performance Management Solution for Business-Critical Microsoft Applications

Latest Release From dynaTrace Delivers Continuous APM for the Entire Microsoft Enterprise Application Stack

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - March 10, 2010) -  dynaTrace software, the innovator in application performance management (APM), has announced a major new release of its third-generation continuous APM system. Designed for organizations that rely on Microsoft technologies for their important applications, this new version offers an enterprise-class APM system that delivers immediate value out-of-the-box, complete coverage of the Microsoft application stack and integration with the latest Microsoft application lifecycle management tools. With this release, dynaTrace expands its production-proven PurePath continuous transaction tracing technology further into Microsoft-centric environments. This includes new and enhanced support for:

  • Microsoft applications like SharePoint Server and Dynamics CRM;
  • Microsoft infrastructure components including BizTalk Server, IIS, and SQL Server; and,
  • Microsoft application lifecycle management tools like Visual Studio 2010 and Systems Center Operations Manager.

The release also introduces dynaTrace Deployment FastPacks to enable enterprises to rapidly deploy the dynaTrace APM system and immediately capture and view richly detailed performance information from their existing Microsoft SharePoint Server, Dynamics CRM, BizTalk Server and .NET Framework-based applications. dynaTrace Deployment FastPacks include application instrumentation templates, monitoring plug-ins, pre-built dashboards and deployment best practice guides. The pre-built dashboards deliver information captured by the dynaTrace system in a format that is relevant, easy to interpret and actionable for the different stakeholders in the performance of an application -- IT operations teams, architects, testers, development teams and business users.

Real Customers, Real Success: dynaTrace in Action
Factory automation solution provider ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. went from having no insight into the performance of its mission-critical Microsoft SharePoint Server-based application to complete visibility in a matter of hours after implementing the dynaTrace APM system. ATS was running into serious SharePoint performance issues that were threatening to delay the rollout of a critical application.

"We brought in dynaTrace, and in a matter of hours had deep visibility into our challenges thanks to dynaTrace and their Deployment FastPack for SharePoint," said Ron Keyser, CIO of ATS. "Those immediate results, along with dynaTrace's support for the full Microsoft stack, convinced us that dynaTrace was the only solution that could deliver 100% transaction coverage in production, and with the depth we needed to improve our performance and deliver on time."

In addition to a series of new and enhanced dynaTrace Deployment FastPacks for Microsoft technologies, the latest version also deepens dynaTrace's existing integration into Visual Studio. A new plug-in for the upcoming Visual Studio Ultimate 2010 enables testers and developers to eliminate multiple test runs by rapidly isolating and diagnosing performance issues at code-level. This integration further breaks down the silos between test and development; it enables testers to trace the detailed execution path of every transaction across distributed and heterogeneous applications, and send poor-performing transactions directly to development for rapid resolution.

"With recent advances in Visual Studio we've decided to move our performance test solution to Visual Studio 2010," said Dave Anderson, Co-founder and Principal Architect of Peopleclick. "Not only has their platform improved, but the growth in the Visual Studio ecosystem -- evidenced by deep integrations built by companies like dynaTrace upon which we've come rely -- gave us the confidence to switch."

"This latest release of the dynaTrace continuous APM system extends the core capabilities distinguishing our third-generation approach to application performance management and delivers a broad set of capabilities for Microsoft-oriented enterprises," said Bernd Greifeneder, CTO and co-founder of dynaTrace. "Traditional APM tools designed a decade or more ago treat Microsoft applications as an afterthought. Our approach has been to create a purpose-built agent for the .NET platform that enables dynaTrace to trace all transactions in depth, across Java and .NET, and in the most complex, high traffic applications. This is what enterprises that rely on Microsoft applications and technologies need to ensure their performance, scalability, and stability."

"We're pleased that dynaTrace, a Visual Studio Industry Program partner, has invested early in supporting our next-generation application lifecycle management tools included in Visual Studio 2010," said Cyrill Glockner, director of Business Development, Platform and Tools at Microsoft Corp. "The new capabilities included in this release will quickly provide customers great value in helping them increase and manage the performance of the applications upon which their business depends."

dynaTrace 3.2 is available immediately for dynaTrace customers, and qualified prospects can see it in their own environment during a dynaTrace PoC. For more information contact or visit
