E & E Receives ACEC Gold Award for Niagara River Restoration Work

LANCASTER, NY--(Marketwired - December 06, 2016) - Ecology and Environment Engineering, P.C. (E & E) (NASDAQ: EEI) has been awarded the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) New York Engineering Excellence Gold Award in the Studies, Research, and Consulting Engineering Services category. The prestigious award recognizes E & E's pioneering work to restore habitat sites within the Niagara River Area of Concern (AOC), one of 43 listed AOCs in the Great Lakes due to severe environmental degradation including loss of fish and wildlife habitat.

E & E provided planning and conceptual design services for seven priority habitat sites within the Niagara River AOC for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Buffalo under the Great Lakes Fishery and Ecosystem Restoration program. Five of the seven conceptual designs were recently selected for funding for final design by other agencies and not-for-profit organizations through various funding opportunities. Implementing the ecological restoration approaches will improve ecosystem function and provide riparian corridor connection, which will greatly improve fish and wildlife habitat. These designs will serve as examples for future restoration projects throughout the Great Lakes Region.

"E & E continues to demonstrate excellence working collaboratively with our USACE team to deliver high-quality products," said USACE Buffalo District Commander LTC Adam Czekanski. "Their ability to gather technical input from a wide variety of experts, especially those partners represented on the habitat subcommittee for the Niagara River AOC, ultimately led to the development of well-vetted concepts for restoration of key habitat features in the Niagara system."

"The Great Lakes and freshwater resources such as the Niagara River are critical ecological assets to the country and our region," said Kris Erickson, E & E Principal Scientist and Restoration Specialist. "Collaboration among agencies and organizations with a shared goal of restoring and protecting the Great Lakes is central to the success of efforts like the Niagara River AOC project. Projects that work in one region provide working blueprints for other projects throughout the basin."

E & E has completed thousands of projects for a wide variety of clients, including some of the most iconic, high-profile projects in the world. E & E is listed on the NASDAQ under the symbol EEI, and the information contained in this press release is available on the Company's website at www.ene.com.
