E & E Receives ACEC's Gold Award for Work on Colorado Resiliency Framework

LANCASTER, NY--(Marketwired - February 22, 2016) - Ecology and Environment Engineering, P.C. (E & E) (NASDAQ: EEI) has been awarded the American Council of Engineering Companies' (ACEC's) Gold Award in the Studies, Research, and Consulting Engineering Services category. The prestigious award recognizes E & E's pioneering work on the Colorado Resiliency Framework, the state's first resiliency plan and the first of its kind in the nation.

"What makes this resiliency planning effort stand out is the deep level of commitment that Colorado has made to a coordinated and inclusive outreach process in creating a model that can be adopted statewide at the local level to empower stakeholders resulting in effective strategies that locals can put into action," said Rebecca Flora, E & E Sustainable Communities Practice Leader.

Following a devastating flood in September 2013 that impacted 24 counties and wildfires in 2010, 2012, and 2013 that destroyed nearly 1,250 homes, the state of Colorado recognized the need for a comprehensive resiliency plan and strategy to enable Colorado's communities to thrive in the face of a variety of natural and man-made hazards. The adoption of the Colorado Resiliency Framework by Governor John Hickenlooper in 2015 represents Colorado's long-term investment in and commitment to a more resilient future.

In developing the framework, E & E worked collaboratively with the Colorado Resiliency and Recovery Office (CRRO) to identify and analyze risks and vulnerabilities from hazards and changing conditions, and develop strategies and year one actions based on stakeholder input and community engagement.
