BOULDER, CO--(Marketwired - May 21, 2014) - E Source is pleased to announce that its board of directors has appointed former president Wayne Greenberg as chief executive officer and member of the board, effective immediately. Greenberg will succeed Michael Shepard, who has led E Source since 2006. Shepard and the rest of the former executive team will be actively supporting the business by sitting on the board of directors and providing thought leadership. Greenberg is returning to the company he piloted more than a decade ago.
"We chose Wayne Greenberg because of his deep knowledge of the energy industry and passion toward our mission of advancing the efficient and environmentally sound use and provision of energy," says Shepard, chairman of the E Source board. "Wayne is a proven leader with the experience, creativity, and business vision to successfully lead the company. Having worked with him for the past 17 years as both an executive and a board member, I know he's the best person to run E Source and he has the unanimous support of our board."
Greenberg is a successful entrepreneur with nearly 20 years of experience focused on energy and clean technology. In the 1990s, he led E Source to a place on the Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Companies list. He served as an advisor to EnerTech Capital Partners for the past 15 years, sitting on a number of boards and acting as CEO to several of the organization's portfolio companies. Greenberg received JD and MBA degrees from Tulane University, where he served as an associate dean at the law school. He also earned a bachelor's degree in public communications from Boston University.
"I couldn't be more thrilled to return to this role at E Source," says Greenberg. "The company's brand has never been stronger and we intend to aggressively build on that foundation. Our depth of knowledge positions us to serve our clients in unique ways."
