E-World Online CEO Wins E-Waste Recycling Industry Pioneer Award

Innovation in Electronics Recycling Recognized at Annual International Electronics Recycling Conference & Expo

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - May 29, 2012) - Robert Erie, CEO of E-World Online, a leading provider of electronics recycling solutions, will receive the "Industry Pioneer Award" at the Fourth Annual International Electronics Recycling Conference and Expo (IERCE) in Las Vegas May 29-31. The prestigious award honors leaders within the e-waste processing industry who take bold steps to reduce the need to deplete more natural resources while diverting toxic materials from landfills and generating green jobs within their local economy. IERCE's panel of judges acknowledged Erie as the standout candidate due to his innovative leadership at the helm of E-World Online and its parent company, E-World Recyclers, as well as his stewardship for responsible recycling within the U.S. electronic waste and recycling industry.

A true pioneer, Erie led the creation of E-World Online's Manufacturer Interstate Take-back System (MITS), the world's only comprehensive e-waste take-back solution for original equipment manufacturers (OEM) that fulfills every requirement of extended producer responsibility (EPR) regulations. Operating the take-back programs for Sony Electronics Inc., Acer America Corp., ViewSonic and others, MITS surpassed lofty 2011 goals and was responsible for recycling over 45 million pounds of e-waste.

"Through the creation of MITS, Robert Erie and E-World Online have provided an advanced, scalable solution for OEM of all sizes to fulfill state mandated e-waste quotas with the ability to monitor collection progress in real-time," said Ismail Oyekan, president and program director of IERCE. "In addition, Erie ensures all of the recyclers in the MITS network meet R2 or e-Steward certification standards. He's a true environmental hero."

"At E-World we're dedicated to maintaining the highest standards throughout all phases of the recycling process," said Erie. "I'm honored to receive this award and will continue to drive the entire electronics recycling industry toward a cleaner process."

Erie will lend his expertise at IERCE as a speaker during the Compliance & Manufacturer Take Back Solutions discussion on Thursday, May 31 at 8:45 a.m.
