EADS North America Appoints Franklin C. Miller to Its Board of Directors

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwire - October 15, 2008) - Franklin C. Miller has been appointed to EADS North America's Board of Directors, bringing significant experience from a distinguished public career that included senior positions in the White House and the Defense Department as well as time at the Department of State and in the U.S. Navy.

"With more than three decades of service in government and industry, Frank Miller will provide leadership, experience and valuable perspective as our company further expands its role in the U.S. defense, homeland security and commercial markets," said EADS North America Chairman and CEO Ralph D. Crosby, Jr.

Miller is an independent consultant and a Senior Counselor with The Cohen Group. He joined The Cohen Group as a Vice President in March 2005 from the White House, where he had served since January 2001 as a Special Assistant to the President for National Security and as Senior Director for Defense Policy and Arms Control on the National Security Council staff.

While in the Executive Branch, Miller was responsible for a wide range of Presidential policy initiatives in the fields of nuclear deterrence policy, strategic arms reductions, national space policy, defense trade reform, land mines, and transforming the American and NATO militaries. He directed interagency support of both Operation Enduring Freedom (the liberation of Afghanistan) in 2001 and Operation Iraqi Freedom during its pre-, trans-, and post-war phases.

His White House assignment capped a 31-year career in the U.S. government, which included two years at the Department of State and 22 years supporting seven Secretaries of Defense in a series of progressively senior positions in the Department of Defense.

During his career, Miller took part in the evolution of national deterrence and nuclear targeting policy as well as the START 1 and START 2 treaties, and was instrumental in forging critically important new relationships with the British Ministry of Defence. In recognition of his service, Miller holds a number of distinguished U.S. awards.
