EADS North America Exhibits Its Expertise in Aerial Refueling, Airlift and Support at the Air Force Association's 2008 Annual Meeting

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwire - September 15, 2008) - EADS North America is underscoring its refueling, airlift and defense electronics support capabilities for the U.S. Air Force at this week's annual meeting of the Air Force Association (AFA) in Washington, D.C.

The company's exhibit stand in the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel (Hall A, Stand # 1402) features scale models of the EADS A400M airlifter, the Northrop Grumman KC-45 (which is based on the EADS A330-200 Multi-role Tanker/Transport aircraft), and a demonstration of total system life management technologies from its EADS North America Test and Services business unit.

The Northrop Grumman KC-45 is the world's most advanced aerial refueling platform. It is evolved from EADS' A330-200 MRTT aircraft family -- which has been ordered by Australia, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates -- and which utilizes the same modern airframe and refueling system combination offered by Northrop Grumman for the U.S. Air Force's replacement tanker requirement.

EADS' A400M is the only in-production aircraft that provides transformational capabilities required by the warfighter today and in the future. Capable of strategic range, airspeeds, and payloads, the A400M offers the ability to deliver medium-sized armor (FCS, STRYKERs, and MRAPs) from operational and strategic distances directly to the soft/short, "point of effect" landing zone. By transforming "tactical airlift" to "theater airlift," the A400M fulfills the factory/fort to foxhole vision -- a capability not resident in the U.S. Air Force today.

The A400M would complement existing aircraft in the U.S. Air Force fleet, and offers a less-risk acquisition approach -- as it already has been built and generated more than 190 orders from U.S. and NATO allies.

The EADS North America exhibit at AFA also is highlighting the company's Total System Life Management capabilities for defense electronics applications, which is available through a teaming arrangement with EADS North America Test and Services and CPU Technology. Included on the AFA exhibit stand is CPU Technology's SystemLab PS® demonstration platform simulator, which provides real-time modeling and simulation capabilities for complex system design, support, and redesign processes.
