Eagle Star Minerals Advances Exploration Program on Agromineral Ruth Project, Piaui, Brazil

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 9, 2011) - Eagle Star Minerals Corp., (TSX VENTURE:EGE)(PINK SHEETS:ELGSF)(FRANKFURT:E6R) ("Eagle Star" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that it has advanced its agromineral exploration program on the southern portion of its Ruth Project, in the State of Piauí, Brazil known as the Paes Landim Block. This southern portion was selected based on high concentrations of phosphate found during the initial reconnaissance campaign and due to good logistics. The Paes Landim block is also intersected by the right-of-way for the Transnordestina railroad, which is currently under construction with a completion date of 2013.

The exploration areas selected have been subdivided into two targets: Brasília to the North and Salvador to the South (Figure 1). The Company is currently focusing on the Salvador target but has also initiated work on the Brasília target. So far, the first phase of trenching was completed on the Salvador target, which included 11 excavations, while 10 trenches are planned for Brasília.

Brasília Target

In the Brasília target Eagle Star has identified different forms of phosphate occurrences within the target levels of siltstone. The first occurrence appears within centimetric layers of carbonate material with evidence of phosphates (P2O5) interspersed with purple siltstone. The second occurrence shows as purple siltstone with mineralized nodules in which the phosphate levels in nodules range from 15% to 22% P2O5. The third occurs gradually, corresponding to interspersed sandstones and siltstones containing mineralized nodules in P2O5. (Figure 2)

Salvador Target

Within the Salvador target, Eagle Star has identified 3 different levels of siltstone with inter nodules including thin layers of sandstones. The total area of the Salvador target covers 1,600 hectares (nearly 4000 acres), over which detailed mapping has been completed (Figure 3). Through this process, Eagle Star has identified the exact position of the best concentration of nodules, within the deep weathered siltstone. Grab sample results from the work completed have confirmed the values of the first campaign.

Potential Areas for Potassium

Eagle Star has also identified potential areas for potassium (K2O) within the Paes Landim Block. Samples have identified calciferous siltstone, which following chemical analyses have shown K2O levels ranging from 4.2% to 6.17%. These results suggest that further investigation is required to identify the spatial relationship of these levels, and whether it is possible to make such an occurrence of potassium feasible.

Conclusions

Recent evidence of phosphate through this exploration program, combined with the results previously obtained in the Paes Landim Block show high potential for extensive phosphate mineralization. Nonetheless, additional amounts of excavation and holes are required to obtain a more accurate estimate of the actual thickness and extension of the layers, and to identify the major phosphate mineralization occurrences within the block.

North of the Paes Landim Block, Eagle Star has identified layers of siltstone returning values up to 10% P2O5 in the Santa Cruz Block and up to 5.5% P2O5 in the Cana Brava Block. Eagle Star intends to develop and focus on the continuity and delineation of mineralization in these layers.

"We are extremely pleased with the results from the Brasila target which demonstrates the potential for phosphate in the Ruth project and we look forward to the results from the continued exploration in the block and Salvador target," says Eran Friedlander, President and CEO of Eagle Star Minerals.

Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Qualified Persons

The rock samples were analyzed by SGS Geosol Laboratorios Ltda (SGS) located in Vespaciano, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. SGS is a ISO14001:2004 and ISO 9001:2008 accredited laboratory. The samples were analyzed by fusion with lithium tetraborate-XRF for SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, CaO, MgO, K2O, TiO2, P2O5 and MnO and retained moisture (LOI) by multi-temperature.

SGS inserts its own standards, blanks and duplicate samples. The results from these control samples indicate acceptable consistency of analysis.
