VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 6, 2012) - Eagle Star Minerals Corp., (TSX VENTURE:EGE)(PINKSHEETS:ELGSF)(FRANKFURT:E6R) ("Eagle Star" or "the Company") is pleased to appoint and welcome Mr. Carlos Perucca to its board of directors effective immediately.
Mr. Perucca brings to the team over 25 years experience in mineral process engineering specific to phosphate process design and development, metallurgical studies, feasibility studies, flowsheets and production plant equipment selection. His expertise also includes phosphate beneficiation, flotation, compaction and crystallization. Mr. Perucca who is fluent in both Spanish and English, obtained his Mineral Processing Engineering Degree from the Universidad Nacional de San Juan, Argentina and his Masters in Science from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Throughout his time spent with AMEC, Agrium, Potasio Rio Colorado, Minera TEA and Compañia Minera Cerro Castillo, Mr. Perucca has held several senior positions developing process simulation of phosphate plants and plant expansions. His direct involvement aided in developing the process design criteria and equipment specifications for several pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for the Industrial Minerals Phosphates field. In addition to developing selective flotation processes for a number of South American fertilizer producers, Mr. Perucca has been instrumental in conceptual flowsheet development, economic process alternatives, and metallurgical test design and results interpretation to multiple fertilizer projects throughout Latin America.
Mr. Perucca's responsibilities moving forward with respect to Eagle Star's operations entail working with Dr. Freitas, (Eagle Star's Senior Manager, Technical Services) on the technological tests required of the phosphate ore at Canabrava and Bomfim which includes developing the optimal beneficiation, floatation and separation processes for the phosphate based on bulk sampling taken from the projects areas. These tests are of high priority to Eagle Star as they will be instrumental to building a better understanding on how to best exploit the full potential of these projects.
Recent detailed mapping and channel sampling at Canabrava have indicated the existence of large tonnage, commercial grade phosphate exposed at or near surface in the area. It is the Company's objective to now develop these processes first, in order to continue to define a resource and ultimately move closer to production. With regards to Bomfim, where the first stage of scout drilling has just been completed, the Eagle Star team (now with the help of Mr. Perucca) intends to commence a thorough examination of phosphate extraction and production methods from mineralization already known to exist in the area.
"With the addition of Mr. Perucca it is quite clear as to what our intentions are as a company, which is to utilize the strengths of our team combined with our strong portfolio of assets to move into production as soon as possible." Stated Eran Freidlander President & CEO. "Leveraging on Mr. Perucca's expertise especially with what we know of both Canabrava and Bomfim will indeed add tremendous value for our shareholders in the very near future."
In light of the recent addition of Mr. Perucca to its Board of Directors, Eagle Star would like to announce that Joseph Bauer, Chairman of Eagle Star Minerals, has gracefully agreed to relinquish all his duties as Chairman of the Company. Eagle Star would like to thank Mr. Bauer for his contribution to the Company and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.
