OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 15, 2013) - Eagle Professional Resources (Eagle) is proud to again sponsor the MASC Young Authors' and Illustrators' Conference. The event kicks off tomorrow morning at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum - a new and exciting location for the annual conference. The three day event will give over six hundred kids from across the region the opportunity to learn from some of Canada's most talented authors and illustrators.
Now in its 22nd year, the Young Authors' and Illustrators' Conference brings together children from grades 4 to 8 in Eastern Ontario and Western Québec, and connects them with published authors and illustrators. The students, who have a special interest in writing and illustrating, apply to spend the day in hands-on workshops, learning different techniques and tools from experienced professionals. This year's slate of authors and illustrators includes: Charles de Lint, Jenn Kelly, Eric Wilson, Jo Rioux, Frieda Wishinsky, Jeremy Tankard, Linda Granfield and Janet Wilson (full biographies available at www.masconline.ca).
"The MASC Young Authors and Illustrators Conference is such a powerful and enriching experience for students, this year set off against a thrilling landscape of airplanes and rockets!" said Audrey Churgin, MASC's Executive Director. "Eagle's ongoing support has given thousands of children the opportunity to learn under the experts."
The 2013 Young Authors and Illustrators Conference will mark the twelfth year that Eagle has been the presenting sponsor of the event. In addition to a financial contribution, some of Eagle's own staff volunteer for the event. Each year, hundreds of participants show appreciation for Eagle's support by sending thank you cards to the CEO, Kevin Dee. "Thank you so much! It's my first time here and I think it might have even been the best day of my life", exclaimed a child from last year's conference. "This is the coolest workshop ever," said another.
"This conference brings out a passion in these young people that is inspiring. The creativity and innovation nurtured here will have a positive impact on their lives." said Dee. "We are honoured to be a part of an event that so clearly demonstrates the power of the arts."
MASC, a registered charitable organization, delivers multicultural art programs in English and in French throughout eastern Ontario and western Quebec. Through its activities with more than 70 professional artists and subsidies to underfunded schools, last year MASC reached 150,000 students in 300 schools from 19 school boards.
