Eaglecrest Appoints Hans J. Rasmussen as Chief Operating Officer

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 23, 2006) - Eaglecrest Explorations, Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:EEL)(FWB:EAT) is very pleased to report that Hans J. Rasmussen has accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer of the Company.

Mr. Rasmussen, who recently joined Eaglecrest's Board of Directors, is an exploration geophysicist/geologist with a M.Sc. in geophysics and twenty-two years experience in North and South America. He has been responsible for conducting and managing exploration, commercial transactions and investor relations. Highlights of his prior employment include twelve years with the Kennecott/Rio Tinto group, including three years as Country Manager of Argentina and Bolivia, four years with Newmont Exploration, and most recently, he has worked as a chief geophysicist for White Knight Resources, Ltd.

Mr. Rasmussen reported, "As part of my due diligence before accepting the director's position, I visited the San Simon project in Bolivia. One of the reasons that I wanted to join the Eaglecrest team is that the Company's nearly 300 square kilometer (km) mineral title holdings have huge "Blue Sky" exploration potential. In the Dona Amelia zone, only 3.0 of the 4.2 kilometers quartz vein has been systematically explored. Also, the first NI 43-101 Resource Calculation and Preliminary Assessment of this zone are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2006."

Mr. Rasmussen continued, "Structural radar satellite interpretation suggests that the Dona Amelia structures can be traced for another 7 km to the east-to the San Simon zone-where exploration during 1999 to 2002 identified coarse gold mineralization in quartz veins. This significantly increases the potential of the project. Structural Radar satellite interpretation also indicates adjacent parallel structures to the north of the main Dona Amelia/San Simon structure. Additionally, there is gold mineralization in quartz veins in the Dona Angela zone-approximately 20 km to the northwest. Apart from the eastern side of the Dona Amelia zone, only limited, initial exploration has been completed. I believe it is this untested potential that will deliver major discoveries to the property."

Mr. Rasmussen said he is impressed with what's been accomplished to date. "The infrastructure that Tor Bruland and his team have set up is very impressive. There are two drill rigs on site, an advanced underground development program, and a fully functional gold recovery plant-all serviced by a field camp that accommodates 150 people. This is one of the most organized and environmentally-friendly exploration projects that I've seen."

Finally, Mr. Rasmussen said, "I am pleased to join the Eaglecrest team and look forward to helping the San Simon Project move towards the development of a major gold camp and increase shareholder value."

On behalf of the Board of Directors,

Carl A. Erickson, President

Eaglecrest Exploration Ltd.
