Eagle's CEO Fights for the Cure!

White Collar Meets Amateur Boxing in a Charity Event to Raise Money for Cancer

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 24, 2011) - This Saturday, Kevin Dee, CEO of Eagle will try his hand in the ring. Fight for the Cure, an event founded by Final Round Boxing Club and The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, will take place at the Hampton Inn to help raise money for cancer. Eagle is also one of the many sponsors for this event which expects over 500 attendees.

Dee has dedicated an enormous amount of time to develop the strength and stamina required to withstand 8 minutes in the ring. Paired with amateur boxer and trainer Matt Whitteker from Final Round Boxing, Dee, a newcomer to the sport, is also learning the art of boxing. His quest began last October when he was approached to take part in the White Collar Boxing Event. Since then, he has dedicated an hour to an hour and half training a couple of times a week in addition to his regular workout schedule. In the month leading up to the event, he has increased the intensity and frequency of training to three times a week.

On Saturday night, Dee will go up against Tony Carmanico, CEO of Coradix Technology Consulting Ltd., in the second of four white collar bouts scheduled. The Kevinator, a name that Eagle staff have come to recognize through these past few months, will spend eight minutes in the ring consisting of three two-minute rounds and two one-minute breaks. The evening will also hold four amateur fights which will be intermingled with the white collar bouts.

"Involvement with this charity event has been an amazing journey, the training regime is tough, and regular sparring has brought black eyes and bloodied noses. Not your typical charitable commitment … but strangely satisfying, knowing that we are raising money for a great cause," said Dee. "I believe the event will be entertaining and the cause will be well served … then I can cross this adventure off my bucket list!"

For those not able to attend, the event will be aired on Rogers on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 9:00 p.m.
