VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Jan. 14, 2014) - Damon Bennett, Crew Supervisor for Mike Holmes on HGTV's Holmes Makes it Right and Holmes on Homes will bring years of renovation experience to the Victoria Home Builders Association's Home Design and Renovation Show, Feb. 28 - March 2, Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, Victoria. Damon supervised the renovation of a couple's California home featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. The work included preparing the home for earthquakes and he will bring this expertise to VHBA's Home Show.
Also featured is Kate Campbell, owner of Kate's Contracting, formerly with Holmes on Homes and now on HGTV's Decked Out and Disaster Decks. Kate launched her career by taking a "Women in Skilled Trades" course on carpentry, electrical, plumbing and she hasn't looked back. Kate continues to be a strong advocate for women in construction.

Enter the Ugly Fridge Contest and a winner will be chosen from photos posted at the Home Show. The prize consists of a new refrigerator with a retail value up to $2,000. VHBA's annual New Home Buyer and Renovation Seminar will provide advice on how to hire a builder or renovator, contracts, home inspections, and mortgages. Plus, VHBA's builders and renovators will be on hand to answer questions about environment-friendly home construction.
Antique & Collectible Appraisals by Alison Ross from Kilshaw's Auctioneers and Pawnathon Canada returns for a second year. Consumers are encouraged to bring their antiques and collectibles for appraising on Saturday March 1 and Sunday March 2 from 12 noon to 3 pm.
Jeff de Jong, Master Gardener will host CFAX Gardening 101
live from the Home Show on Sunday, March 2. Gardeners will receive tips through the weekend at stage presentations by Jeff and also by the Victoria Rhododendron Society.
Hazpro Environmental Ltd. will outline the hazards of asbestos and mold in home renovations, and the Canadian Association of Rainwater Management will offer best practices in rainwater harvesting and management to promote water conservation. The Home Design and Renovation Show features more advice on design, flooring, cabinets, lighting, decks, windows, roofs and renovations.
