Easter Egg QR Codes Engage Users in THQ's Blockbuster New Homefront Game

Augme Technologies Records 30,000 Scans in First 2 Days

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Apr 19, 2011) - Augme Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: AUGT), a technology and services leader in interactive media marketing that offers the only patented and innovative end-to-end mobile marketing platform, today announced that the QR codes it created for THQ's recently released Homefront video game resulted in impressive player engagement, with 30,000 scans in the first two days of sales and nearly 50,000 scans to date. Homefront's storyline invites players to join the American Resistance in 2027 after a devastating EMP strike results in an occupation of the United States by a nuclear armed Greater Korean Republic.

Augme created 10 unique QR codes hidden throughout Homefront as virtual Easter eggs, available exclusively on the Xbox 360 version of the game in both single and multi-player modes. Consumers who successfully locate the codes -- the first of which is included in the game's manual -- can scan them with their mobile devices to unlock exclusive Homefront content in their own hands. Each code unlocks its own unique experience, from Homefront wallpapers to extended content game videos.

Rather than announcing the hidden QR codes prior to Homefront's release, THQ opted to let users independently discover their presence on the Xbox 360 version of the game. Within 24 hours, Homefront fans were sharing their experience finding the QR codes online, with more than 30,000 scans taking place by the end of the first two days of the game's release. Users downloaded wallpapers over 30,000 times, and video views topped 18,000. Among players who engaged with the QR codes, the iPhone was the most popular device used to scan the codes.
