Eastern Concrete Earns Top Award for Taking Concrete Strength to New Heights

EULESS, TX--(Marketwire - Dec 17, 2012) - U.S. Concrete, Inc. (NASDAQ: USCR) announced today that Eastern Concrete, its New York-based operating company, has received -- conjointly with the One World Trade Center project team -- the Concrete Industry Board's (CIB) New York City Chapter Annual Award.

The award was granted to team members on November 28, at the CIB's Fifty-First Annual Awards Dinner held at Marina Del Rey, located in Bronx, New York. The award is the highest achievement given by the CIB and is presented for superior work that exemplifies quality concrete at its highest.

Eastern Concrete supplied unique, high-strength, low-CO2 concrete mixes (EF Technology®) to the One World Trade Center project. The concrete mixes included the first 14,000 psi mix designed for a building in New York City. The concrete was pumped to the top of the 104-story tower in what is considered the highest elevation ever attempted in the Americas. EF Technology® concrete mixes were developed and produced in conjunction with New York City Concrete Materials, a U.S. Concrete company. Collavino Construction Co. of Jersey City, New Jersey, was the installer. Tower One is owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The construction of the 1,776-foot-tall One World Trade Center began in 2006 and is scheduled for completion by 2013.

The CIB Annual Award is given to a project based on the level of integration between the architectural and engineering design, general construction, and specific workmanship. The CIB recognizes superior work that takes concrete sustainability, performance, and quality to new heights.

With locations serving major construction markets in the United States (California, Texas, Oklahoma, New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.), U.S. Concrete's operating companies have been able to effectively meet the challenges inherent in large-scale projects. As of the date of this press release, The Company has 101 fixed and 13 portable ready-mixed concrete plants, two precast concrete plants and seven producing aggregates facilities. During 2011, these plant facilities produced approximately 4.3 million cubic yards of ready-mixed concrete from continuing operations and 3 million tons of aggregates.
