Eastern Petrochemical Company to Divert Ethylene Glycol to Japan, an Industrial Info News Alert

KOFU-SHI, JAPAN--(Marketwire - Apr 18, 2011) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources East Asia (Kofu-shi, Japan) -- As a result of the March 11 earthquake, operations at the Kashima, Ibaraki, facility belonging to Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation (TYO:4188) (MCHC) (Tokyo) and the Ichihara, Chiba, facility belonging to Maruzen Company Limited (TYO:5982) (Tokyo) were completely stopped. Loss of these facilities led to a loss of 70% of Japan's domestic ethylene glycol capacity. While steps toward resuming operation are being made, Eastern Petrochemical Company (Sharq) (Al Jubayl, Saudi Arabia) plans to divert ethylene glycol shipments meant for China to Japan.
