Eastern Traditions Come to the Old Port of Montreal

Government of Canada supports the Orientalys Festival

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 7, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced $30,000 in funding for the fourth Orientalys Festival. The event will take place in the Old Port of Montréal from August 29 to September 1, 2014.

This funding, provided by the Government of Canada under the Local Festivals component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, will help promote awareness of the arts and culture of Arab countries.

Quick Facts

  • More than 100 artists and 170 volunteers will help give visitors an introduction to the culture of Middle Eastern and North African countries.

  • Organizers expect 175,000 visitors to attend a range of music and dance performances and view exhibits of photos and artworks by Arab creators.
