Eat This Blog: Chef Tyler Florence to Help You Savor Flavor

Popular TV Host to Showcase World Travels, Recipes During Eight-Week Mealtime.org Web Log

PITTSBURGH, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 28, 2005 -- Chef Tyler Florence, popular Food Network host and author of the new cookbook "Eat This Book: Cooking with Global Fresh Flavors," embarks in July on an eight-week-long world tour of flavors. The best part for food aficionados: all you need to join him is a computer, a kitchen and an appetite.

Beginning July 28, Florence will host a weekly Web log, or blog, at Mealtime.org where he will share some of his trade secrets for cooking with fresh flavors along with tales of his world travels and several of his favorite, easy-to-prepare recipes developed along the way.

"I'm eager to get families back into the kitchen during the summer and experimenting with fresh and exotic tastes they might otherwise consider exclusive to a certain global region," says Florence. "You don't need to travel to Italy for authentic Italian cuisine, and that's the lesson Mealtime.org visitors can take from my blog."

Mealtime.org is the official Web site of the Canned Food Alliance and promotes the nutritional benefits and convenience of canned food. In addition to hosting Florence's weekly blog posts, Mealtime.org provides scores of tasty, healthy and easy-to-prepare recipes.

"As a chef, I use convenience foods because they can bring global flavors to my kitchen any time of year. My pantry is loaded with versatile canned products like tomatoes that remind me of the Italian sunshine," Florence says. "My recipes and the hundreds of terrific recipes at Mealtime.org combine the ease of preparation you want with the nutritional value you and your family need."

Each of Florence's blog postings will include simple recipe preparation guides and information about the global regions Florence visits, enabling kids to get involved in discovering the flavors of world cultures. Children, for instance, will discover that inhabitants of the ancient and ill-fated city of Pompeii enjoyed their pizza with anchovies.

Non-history buffs can invite their closest friends for an authentic Mexican fiesta -- complete with sombreros, classical guitar melodies and Spicy Chicken Broth with Tortillas, Avocado and Lime.

Florence's blog postings on Mealtime.org will be updated each week for eight weeks.
