eBags.com Uses Web 2.0 to Help Fight Breast Cancer

Video and User-Generated Content Key to Increasing Awareness

DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - October 15, 2008) - eBags.com continues to lead the way by embracing Web 2.0 technology to raise awareness and empower customers to help fight breast cancer. eBags.com -- the world's largest online retailer of handbags, luggage, backpacks and travel accessories -- launched its annual breast cancer awareness tribute video on eBags.com and YouTube.com.

"eBags has always been an early-adopter of new technology, so it was a natural for us to use Web 2.0 and video to help generate awareness in the fight against breast cancer. We are proud to have raised over $500,000 in the search for a cure," said Peter Cobb, Senior Vice President and co-founder of eBags.com.

The "Race for the Cure 2008" video was produced in-house using the company's own on-site photography and film footage captured at the Komen Denver Race for the Cure on October 5, 2008. The video, which captures the strength and spirit of the 3,000 survivors at the Denver Race, can be viewed throughout the eBags.com website, including within the eBags Video center, on the website's homepage, and the "Pick Pink" online boutique. It can also be viewed on the Pick Pink and Support Komen Breast Cancer Fight page on Facebook.com.

"After filming the Race for the Cure, my goal is to make the video as candid as possible by capturing genuine faces, names, personalities, and the remarkable strengths of those battling the disease," said Scott Roon, New Media Producer at eBags.com.

eBags' video content is managed by a Silicon Valley, CA based company named Liveclicker, which built the software for eBags. Users can view videos; sort by brand, most-viewed and highest-rated; submit written and webcam comments; and post photographs to enhance their comments.

In addition to its latest video installment, eBags.com offers over 1.5 million unbiased customer reviews. To help make better educated purchases, shoppers can sort reviews by most/least helpful, positive, negative, newest, and oldest.

Since July 2004, eBags.com has donated more than $500,000 towards breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. In addition to its latest cause-related video, eBags is donating 10% of the retail price of any purchased pink product towards the cause.

eBags' Pick Pink online boutique offers customers over 1,500 pink bags and accessories, where they can shop an extensive assortment of items that include designer handbags, luggage sets, packing cubes, and even products like TSA locks, umbrellas and water bottles.
