eBay Marketing Director Joins VA Software

Online Marketplace and Community Marketing Veteran Mike Rudolph to Lead the Marketplace Effort

FREMONT, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 5, 2006 -- VA Software Corporation (NASDAQ: LNUX), the online media, e-commerce and software leader in community driven Open Source innovation, today announced the appointment of Mike Rudolph as Vice President of Marketplace. Rudolph comes to VA Software's OSTG division with more than 16 years of e-commerce, marketplace, community marketing, and operations experience. For the past 5 years, Rudolph has held a variety of positions in escalating responsibility for eBay, The World's Online Marketplace®.

When Rudolph joined eBay in 2001, his charter was to develop integrated service and support offerings like cell phone plans and warranties to buyers of merchants' products. Rudolph also spent time as head of the Computers vertical at the online e-commerce giant, as well as managing the community event eBay Live! His experience prior to eBay includes operations, technical management, and marketing responsibilities at Ziff-Davis Events and Softbank Forums. Rudolph will report directly to Rich Marino, Group President for OSTG.

The Marketplace will connect corporate and individual adopters of Open Source code and applications with a vibrant community of service and support providers, via an online marketplace.
