Ecclesiastical Insurance Named One of Canada's Top Employers for Young People, 2016

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - January 11, 2016) - Ecclesiastical Insurance is proud to announce that, once again, it has been named one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People, 2016. This is the 4th consecutive year that Ecclesiastical has received this prestigious award.

Organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers, this national competition evaluates employers on a broad range of initiatives designed specifically for younger workers, including training and mentoring programs, career management and retention, as well as tuition assistance for specific courses and/or professional designations. The competition is open to employers of all sizes in both the public and private sectors.

"It is a very special honour to be selected as one of the leading organizations in Canada for our commitment to the professional development and advancement of young employees," said Jacinta Whyte, Deputy Group Chief Executive, Ecclesiastical Insurance Group, and leader of the Canadian business. "These young employees represent the next generation of leadership in our industry and our future success. By giving them the benefit of our knowledge and experience, and providing opportunities for engagement at all levels, we can help them realize their potential."

"We are especially proud that Ecclesiastical's Business Intern Program has been recognized for its innovative approach to helping young people gain the knowledge and skills they need to become successful insurance professionals and good corporate citizens," added Lorna McIntosh, Vice President, Human Resources. "Winning this award," she said, "also pays tribute to Ecclesiastical team members across Canada whose unwavering commitment and mentorship are the foundation of the Program's success."

Based on an accelerated rotational model, Ecclesiastical's Business Intern Program is designed for young people looking to build careers in the commercial insurance industry. Interns have the opportunity to learn about every area of the business and acquire professional designations. As part of their rotation, they are also placed with non-profit organizations in order to gain hands-on experience in civic engagement.
