Echo360 Unifies Instructional Media Creation, Management and Publishing in EchoSystem 3.0

New Version of Industry-Leading Blended Learning Solution Now Available

DULLES, VA--(Marketwire - December 14, 2010) - Echo360, www.echo360.com, the recognized leader in campus-wide solutions that enable universities to record, manage and share rich media course content for blended learning and lecture capture, today announced the market launch of EchoSystem 3.0. The new software release tackles the emerging management challenges resulting from the growing use of video in higher education by providing an enterprise solution to capture, manage and publish instructional media created natively within the EchoSystem and with third-party cameras and software tools.

Already flush with academic video and rich media, institutions need a method to efficiently unlock access to the content. Using EchoSystem 3.0, instructors can seamlessly upload media created with consumer and professional cameras or outside screen recording tools, and publish it to their courses. By centralizing disparate media silos under a single solution to ingest, manage, edit and publish the content, institutions will recognize immediate financial and time benefits.

"In an era of tight budgets, consolidating technology operations that may otherwise be handled by multiple systems is simply the smart thing to do," said Sasan Poureetezadi, Director of Computer Services, the Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. "By leveraging an existing lecture capture investment to record, manage and publish all types of instructional media, institutions will get more bang for their buck while paying dividends in the form of a time savings for the instructors who can't spend hours tracking down their content."

EchoSystem 3.0 completes Echo360's full suite of mix-and-match capture options that address a diverse set of instructional recording needs within the walls of the classroom and beyond. Other options are the EchoSystem capture appliance and/or EchoSystem capture software to record face-to-face instruction in auditoriums and classrooms. With personal capture, instructor laptops are used to create learning modules and tutorials from offices and other learning spaces. Frost & Sullivan recently recognized Echo360 with the 2010 Global Product Line Strategy of the Year Award. The award cites that the breadth of capture options, exclusive to Echo360, stands out in the industry.

Echo360 announced the full feature set of EchoSystem 3.0 in October. In addition to external media ingest, other features of EchoSystem 3.0 include:

  • New personalized, online learning environment that allows students to choose when to engage with the player based on their learning style
  • Insertion of video intros, watermarks, custom branding and copyright notices to protect and promote the university brand
  • Enhanced monitoring of capture, processing and publishing tasks
  • Venue-based, video-only capture and playback

"The ability to centrally control the massive amount of existing and new instructional media with a unified blended learning solution is a game changer for cash-strapped universities looking to do more with less," said Fred Singer, CEO of Echo360. "Combined with new features to brand university media and further engage students, EchoSystem 3.0 adds up to a wise investment for higher education."

EchoSystem 3.0 is available today for customers through the Echo360 client support portal or by contacting technical support.
