Eco-Conscious Munich Hotel Introduces Complimentary Electric Car-Charging Station

MUNICH, GERMANY--(Marketwired - Sep 3, 2014) - Environmentally conscious drivers can now charge their cars green at a central Munich hotel dedicated to maintaining the environment through innovative sustainability.

The Munich Marriott Hotel has installed a Mennekes e-petro pump to power electric vehicles with environmentally friendly energy. Freely accessible, the charging station has been placed in the roundabout in front of Marriott's modern hotel in Munich and is available to drivers at all times, not just hotel guests. Welcoming all owners of electric vehicles to recharge with electricity completely free of charge, the hotel maintains its dedication to the eco-conscious "Getting to Munich" program.

"More and more of our guests are switching to electric vehicles," said Erich Zuri, general manager of the Munich Marriott Hotel. "For us it was a big concern, to be able to offer them this service locally, thereby supporting the eco-conscious 'Getting to Munich'."

Decorated in Marriott design, the tank column was officially put into operation on August 12. The Munich hotel's location near BMW Welt made it appropriate that the first vehicle to receive green power from the new station was a BMW i3 demonstration. Excitement of the new e-charging station was also expressed with the word "O'zapft is" making reference to the City of Munich and its upcoming Oktoberfest -- but instead of beer flowing in the Munich Marriott Hotel -- it's pure green electricity.
