Today, a panel of ten eco-experts - aged 13 and under - gathered at the Toronto Botanical Garden to share an exciting green message. The Sunlight Green Clean Panel announced a Green Grant program that will see $50,000 distributed to kids across Canada, to help make their green dreams a reality.

The Sunlight Green Clean Kids Panel is a nation-wide group of kids dedicated to seeing small eco-changes make a big difference across the country. The panel is inviting other young Canadian eco-stewards, ages six to 13, to share their ideas for going green or inspiring green action at home or in their community. If their idea is selected by our Sunlight Green Clean Panel, they will receive a Green Grant valued between $250 and $1,500 to help fund their green ideas. In total, Sunlight Green Clean will provide $50,000.00 in Green Grant funds.

Green Grant applications can come from individual kids, their school clubs or community groups. Canadian kids can visit to apply or to download a mail-in application. Kids are asked to share their green idea in 150 words or less. Applications must be received between October 5, 2009 and November 30, 2010

"Kids are just as likely to be leading the green charge as they are to be following green examples," says Jillian McLaughlin, Sr. Brand Manager, Sunlight Green Clean. "We believe that the greatest actions often grow from small ideas, so we wanted to give more kids an opportunity to put green ideas into action and to inspire other kids, parents and communities to make a positive environmental difference."
