Eco-Safe Launches Supermarket Industry Initiative Promoting Food Safety in Produce Departments

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 2, 2007 -- Eco-Safe Systems USA, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: ESFS), a leader in Ozone food-safety and water-purity intervention systems, has announced the launch of a supermarket industry initiative that will place ozone water disinfection units in major supermarket chain produce departments to enhance food safety and reduce shrinkage.

The new Eco-Safe program seeks to demonstrate the effectiveness of ozone water disinfection units for improving the safety of most perishables while dramatically reducing shrinkage by killing the bacteria which exacerbate spoilage.

Michael Elliot, President of Eco-Safe Systems USA, Inc., said, "By working closely with supermarket chains, Eco-Safe Systems is seeking to develop a variety of interventions that will raise the safety of produce on store shelves. We are currently running programs in five retail outlets representing hundreds of stores among major supermarket chains."

In addition to improving food safety, the use of ozonated water systems in produce departments can increase the shelf life of fruits and vegetables, saving an average of 42% of produce that would be discarded without ozone disinfection. For some supermarkets, a return on investment can be realized in as few as three months.

Washing produce with ozonated water kills bacteria on contact. Ozonated water is a potent organic bactericide that disinfects 3,000 times faster than chlorine and reduces bacterial contamination from salmonella, listeria, E.coli and shigella. It is also environmentally friendly, using no chemicals or additives.
