The eCopy Connections Alliance Program Surpasses the 100-Member Milestone in One Year

Members Use SDK to Develop Integration to eCopy's Open Platform Architecture

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 3, 2006 -- eCopy Paper Connection Forum -- eCopy, Inc., a leading provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into enterprise software applications, today announced that the eCopy Connections Alliance Program (eCAP) has surpassed the 100 member milestone. Launched in April 2005, eCAP is a multifaceted program designed to assist independent software vendors, office equipment dealers, and other organizations in developing integration to eCopy's Open Platform Architecture.

By integrating enterprise software with the Open Platform Architecture, eCAP members enable their enterprise software users to easily incorporate paper-based information using the scanning capability of a networked office copier. Central to eCAP is eCopy's software developers kit (SDK), which provides application programming interfaces, samples, documentation, and tools, including a multi-copier platform graphical user interface (GUI) generator. These tools enable a developer to easily create software screens that are deployed on a Canon MEAP enabled imageRUNNER multifunction product (MFP) or eCopy ScanStation OP. By using the SDK, developers can build one software integration connector and enable their customers to use their office copier to scan documents directly to a software application.

"The eCopy SDK allowed ZyLAB to develop an extended integration between MFPs and our ZyLAB ZyIMAGE document management solution," said ZyLAB Channel Manager Mike Holp. "eCopy's Open Platform Architecture makes it possible for ZyLAB customers to use their office copier to easily capture documents, preview the image, and store it with the appropriate indexing information to the ZyLAB repository."

With eCopy's SDK, development organizations can easily meet their customers' requirement for incorporating paper documents into their enterprise applications. By developing one connector to eCopy, software developers can eliminate the need to educate their organizations on multiple copier platforms for application design and testing.

"The newly released version of the SDK insulates organizations from the need to build development capabilities for multiple MFP embedded environments, including the individual user interface form factors for each embedded architecture," said Edward Schmid, eCopy president and CEO. "The SDK and our Open Platform Architecture have addressed the industry's need for a cross platform standard that connects MFPs to enterprise software applications. The rapid adoption of eCAP is a gratifying testament to our plan to provide a standard and enable dramatic expansion in our industry."

In the second quarter of calendar 2006, eCopy's SDK will support Ricoh's SDK-J embedded architecture, making it possible for organizations to develop one Connector to the eCopy Open Platform Architecture and use eCopy ShareScan OP software to scan documents using embedded operating environments from Canon or Ricoh, as well as the eCopy ScanStation OP working with Canon, Konica Minolta, HP, Ricoh, Sharp, or Toshiba MFPs.

Organizations that have joined eCAP include EMC, Questys, Hyland Software, Westbrook, and many others. For more information about eCAP members, see http://www.ecopy.com/partners/software_alliance.htm. For more information or to join eCAP, call +1.603.881.4450 Ext. 423.
