eCopy to Help Customers Improve Document Lifecycle Management With HP

eCopy Multivendor Alliance Establishes HP Digital Copiers as Paper Capture Devices for More Than 20 Enterprise Software Applications

MIAMI, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 5, 2005 -- eCopy PAPER CONNECTION FORUM -- eCopy, Inc. today announced the eCopy Ready Manufacturers Program now includes HP, whose copiers will serve as essential infrastructure components for document lifecycle management in more than 20 enterprise software applications.

As part of the program, HP digital copier customers can leverage eCopy ScanStation OP v3.0 to add paper-based information to any enterprise business application. Other vendors participating in the eCopy Ready Manufacturers Program include Ricoh, Sharp, and Toshiba.

In addition, eCopy has become a member of HP's Solution Business Partner program, which designates eCopy as a leading third-party independent software vendor that enhances the utility of HP technology. eCopy was selected based on its ability to provide and support industry-leading solutions.

In addition to copying, printing, and scanning, HP users can now easily incorporate documents directly to enterprise content management, fax server, and e-mail applications for more productive business workflows, improved document security, and consistent use of enterprise applications for both paper-based and electronic information.

eCopy ScanStation OP v3.0 consists of eCopy ShareScan v3.0 software, as well as an ergonomic, integrated touch screen, keyboard, and PC, where users can operate the software and capture document-specific data. eCopy announced ScanStation OP v3.0 today, see the news release and photo at and

"Organizations around the world are leveraging digital copiers so any office worker can add paper-based information to business applications and electronic workflows," said Edward Schmid, president and CEO of eCopy. "eCopy software enables customers to better address the challenge of distributing, managing, accessing, and protecting paper-based information across its entire lifecycle."

eCopy ShareScan OP works with eCopy connector software to provide native integration to more than 20 enterprise applications, for example, Hummingbird Enterprise™, Captaris RightFax, and Microsoft Outlook. This enables eCopy software to provide the same look and feel at a digital copier as the application operating on the desktop, which reduces training and improves ease-of-use. eCopy software also extends enterprise application authentication to provide user rights at the copier, a comprehensive audit trail, and to protect against unauthorized users, which is a critical requirement for organizations that use enterprise applications to manage government regulatory and internal compliance practices.

"HP is pleased that our customers now have an opportunity to leverage the document capture functionality offered by eCopy," said Michael K. Harris, business manager, Imaging and Printing Solutions -- Americas, HP. "The powerful combination of HP's distributed capture capability of our digital copiers and eCopy software enables our customer to capture and route content at the onset when it is freshest and most useful to their business processes."

Today, eCopy is demonstrating an HP digital copier working with ScanStation OP v3.0 at the eCopy Paper Connection Forum, a global summit for independent software vendors (ISVs), digital copier and scanner manufacturers, dealers, VARs and system integrators being held in Miami, Fla.

The eCopy Ready Manufacturers Program is one of four components in the eCopy Paper Connection initiative, which seeks to expand the use of document scanning to millions of office workers. The other three components include the eCopy Open Platform Architecture, eCopy Connections Alliance Program, and the eCopy Solution Provider Network.
