Ecotech Institute to Host Webinar on the Growing Demand for Power Utility Technicians

Thirty-Minute Webinar Will Discuss Career Training and Employment Opportunities in the Power Utility Sphere

DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Mar 26, 2014) - On Friday, April 4, Ecotech Institute will hold a free 30-minute webinar on the power utility industry that takes a look at the changes and opportunities available in this evolving industry. Because of this sphere's aging work force, qualified applicants have many excellent job prospects. The session is part of an exclusive webinar series offered by Ecotech Institute, the first and only college entirely focused on preparing America's workforce for careers in renewable energy and sustainability. Required skill-sets and industry knowledge that this webinar will address include:

  • Power generation
  • Power transmission and distribution
  • Power plant maintenance and operation
  • SMART grid technology.

Kerry Urbaniak, Ecotech Institute's Lead Electronics Instructor, and Patrick Longstreth, Ecotech Institute's program director for the Electrical Engineering Technology program, will co-host the event. The webinar will be broken up into two parts: a 20-minute presentation, followed by a 10-minute question-and-answer session.

"This webinar will help people easily grasp what the power utility industry is all about and the opportunities that are available due to the evolving infrastructure of our power grids, and as a result, the many opportunities available to power utility technicians," said Urbaniak, who has nearly 40 years of technician and training experience.

"At Ecotech Institute, we are preparing our students for these shifts and technological changes, helping them stand out among other applicants once they graduate," added Longstreth, who has more than 40 years of experience in software development.
