Ecotech Institute Installs Graymark Weatherization Equipment for Residential Energy Management Program

Latest Renewable Energy Technology Will Prepare Students for the BPI Certification Exam

DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Jun 13, 2014) - Ecotech Institute, the only college entirely focused on renewable energy and sustainability training, recently installed Graymark Weatherization Equipment to train and prepare Residential Energy Management (REM) students. This hands-on test equipment allows students to practice for the Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification exam and gives them the tools they need to become effective residential energy auditors.

The Graymark Weatherization Equipment meets the Department of Energy's Weatherization Assistance Program Basic and Core Competencies for BPI Energy Auditing. Students will use a diagnostic house to learn how to properly use test equipment like a blower door, infrared camera, combustion gas analyzer, carbon monoxide analyzer, radiation detector and other key pieces necessary for residential energy auditing.

"Students now have the opportunity to have in-class instruction and practical hands-on experience for BPI training," said Tiffany Burton, Ecotech's Residential Energy Management Program Director. "Before, we have had to use offsite locations to teach these skills. By bringing the equipment in house, we will enhance the experience of our REM students and students from other programs interested in BPI certification."

Because this newly installed equipment is BPI certified, Ecotech Institute is exploring the possibility of offering a short course to the public regarding residential energy auditing skills. The course would include a week of energy efficiency training, followed by a certification exam.
