TORREON, COAHUILA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 19, 2006) - ECU Silver Mining inc. (TSX VENTURE:ECU)

- Discovery of a fifth mineralized vein in Tres Aguilas;

- First 36 meters (118 ft) averaging 0.70 meter width (2.3 ft) grading 10.18 g/t Au, 548 g/t Ag (0.62 oz/t Au-eq(i));

- Second 36 meters (118 ft) averaging 0.82 meter width (2.7 ft) grading 15.38 g/t Au, 982 g/t Ag (1.02 oz/t Au-eq(i));

- Increase in precious metals grades, sulfide content and thickness confirms the proximity of the intrusive and associated skarns.

ECU Silver Mining Inc. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:ECU)is pleased to announce assay results from drifting on the 17th level in the Tres Aguilas area of the Santa Juana mine. These results were compiled from a newly discovered fifth mineralized vein on the 17th level, which has been identified as the "A4" vein.

To date, the Company has thus far discovered five of the 16 veins that have been historically mined west of the Tres Aguilas fault at the Santa Juana mine: the "CC", the "Santa Juana", the "A2", the "A1" and the "A4". Continued exploration programs are under way to localize the other 11 veins.

The results outlined in tables 1A and 1B were obtained from 72 meters of drift driven along the "A4" vein on level 17. Table 1A below corresponds to the first 36 meters, near the Tres Aguilas fault, and clearly continues to demonstrate a very high content of calcite with high values in gold and silver averaging 0.70 meter grading 10.18 g/t Au, 548 g/t Ag, 0.61% Pb and 0.16% Zn.

The next 36 meters, presented in Table 1B, has a much higher sulfide content and yielded 0.82 meter of 15.38 g/t Au, 982 g/t Ag, 4.11% Pb, 2.45% Cu and 1.55% Zn. From a geological point of view, the significant increase in precious metals within the sulfide zone is a confirmation of the proximity of the intrusive and its associated skarns.

Given the extensive planned drilling program the Company is embarking on in early 2006, a significant amount of data will be collected that will further verify the depth, grade, and continuity of the five veins already encountered, as well as identify the remaining eleven veins in the same area.

All the samples represent the true width of the veins. Samples were assayed at Mina de San Luis, state of Durango, Mexico. Property specific quality control samples were inserted at regular intervals in the sample sequence.

Mr. Michel Roy, P. Geo., a "qualified person" within the meaning of NI 43-101, prepared the technical information disclosed in this news release.

ECU Silver Mining Inc is a junior Gold, Silver, Zinc and Lead producer in the prolific mining district of Velardena, Mexico where historically over 500,000 ounces of Gold and 250,000,000 ounces of silver have been mined. Full scale production began in May 2005 at the Company's Santa Juana mine.
