ecVision Adds Conflict Minerals Management to Product Testing Best Practice Solution

Dodd-Frank Act Places Liability on Apparel and Footwear Manufacturers

ISELIN, NJ--(Marketwired - Apr 24, 2013) - ecVision®, the leading supply chain collaboration platform provider for retail, is launching due diligence reporting and data management in its collaboration platform, ecVision Suite®, to aid retailers and brands in meeting the Dodd-Frank Act requirements. ecVision Suite's® Product Testing Best Practice helps brands, retailers and suppliers work together to manage the testing process, as well as plan and properly document actions that will insulate retailers against fines, consumer and NGO threats, and shipping delays.

Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, or the "Conflict Minerals Law," requires publicly-traded US companies to disclose the sources of certain minerals in their products originating in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Manufacturers will be required to obtain an audit performed by an independent third party to verify their supply chain and brands and retailers will require detailed data about the composition of their products, the country of origin of conflict minerals, and the means of production throughout their supply chain.

Inherent to ecVision's platform are the tools to help manage supplier-specific information such as points of contact for specific areas of responsibility (fire safety or raw material procurement). With this information stored and easy to maintain, users can generate contact lists to communicate directly with the correct source. A document library allows users to share, store, access and maintain guidelines and other documents related to important compliance standards. User function permissions control levels of access and electronic acknowledgements can be used to confirm receipt.

With these tools, brands and retailers can contact suppliers to conduct the chain of custody/country of origin surveys, document materials composition and utilize a logic-based decision making tool to rule out (or confirm) the existence of conflict minerals.
