ecVision Sponsors Aberdeen Research Report on Supply Chain Collaboration

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 4, 2011) - ecVision, provider of supply chain collaboration solutions for private label brands and retailers, announced today the sponsorship of a new research report from Aberdeen Group. The report, "The State of Retailer-Supplier Collaboration", is planned for release in March 2011. The report details the rising importance of managing retail supply chain strategies through collaboration and visibility processes that integrate across the entire lifecycle and share information between manufacturers, supplier partners, and retailers.

According to Aberdeen data, supply chain complexity and globalization is a top three pressure driving retailers to work more closely with suppliers to maintain competitive advantage. As supply channels continue to expand and responsibilities are spread through the network, B2B connectivity, supplier collaboration and multi-enterprise visibility are factors that supply chain professionals desire in technology solutions to help achieve their goals for success and growth.

"Integrating trading partner data is not an easy task -- it requires a foundation of real-time connectivity with the partners," says Sahir Anand, Vice President and Principal Analyst of retail research for Aberdeen Group. "In the retail industry, collaboration across the supply chain is hampered by multi-generational supply chain applications, legacy IT thinking, and distrust between retailers and suppliers. The Best-in-Class are able to more effectively integrate comprehensive data and process information sharing with suppliers and trading partners via vendor portals."

Post-NRF 2011, Aberdeen will conduct an online survey open to retail supply chain professionals in multiple areas of brand management to determine what factors are important benchmarks that enable supply chain visibility and promote supplier collaboration. The intent is to provide an in-depth and comprehensive look into process, procedure, methodologies and technologies with best practice identification and actionable recommendations.

"A key expected outcome of the report is the analysis of different segments of the retailer and supplier market and identify the pre-conditions for success with respect to collaboration," says the report's co-author Nari Viswanathan, Vice President/Principal Analyst of the SCM practice at Aberdeen Group. The report will provide research data and actions that retailers can take towards achieving an integrated supplier collaboration system and developing a winning retail environment.
