Edan Introduces Acclarix LX8 Ultrasound System at MEDICA 2014 to Expand Premium Product Portfolio

Second Acclarix System Introduction Demonstrates Strength of California-Chinese Technology Partnership

DUSSELDORF, GERMANY--(Marketwired - November 12, 2014) - Edan Medical, the Silicon Valley ultrasound design center of global medical device manufacturer Edan Instruments, today announced the introduction of the Acclarix™ LX8 Ultrasound System for use in general radiology and point-of-care applications at the MEDICA® 2014 World Forum for Medicine, 12-15 Nov. 2014 at the Düsseldorf Fairgrounds. MEDICA 2014 is the world's largest trade event for the medical sector.

The Acclarix LX8 system is the second product introduced that leverages contributions between two cradles of high-technology innovation, Silicon Valley, located in northern California in the United States, and Shenzhen, China. It joins the Acclarix AX8 Compact Ultrasound System, introduced last month for point-of-care applications at the annual ANESTHESIOLOGY™ 2014 meeting in New Orleans, Louisana, USA. Both Acclarix systems embody definitive image quality in progressive designs, while also focusing on the workflow needs of the ultrasound technician.

"The addition of the Acclarix LX8 ultrasound system to our product portfolio provides premium-level performance in a form factor for environments where a cart-based system is preferred," said Sean Murphy, PhD, chief executive officer of Edan Medical. "The Acclarix product family has been engineered to combine premier image quality with meaningful design innovations that results in significantly improved ultrasound performance at very affordable price points."

The high fidelity, high channel-count architecture of the Acclarix LX8 system provides tremendous computing power that enables exceptional image quality and color Doppler sensitivity. Standard features such as tissue-adaptive imaging continuously and automatically optimizes the image to facilitate identification of tissue boundaries. Design features include a touch screen user interface, tilt-and-swivel monitor, motorized 20-cm console height adjustment, needle visualization technology, and application-specific exam presets. A new generation of seven fully optimized transducers covers the range of general imaging applications including abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), difficult-to-image patients, cardiac screening, vascular, breast, small parts, musculoskeletal, nerves and 3D/4D imaging.

Demonstrations of the Acclarix LX8 and AX8 systems are scheduled throughout the meeting in Edan's main booth (#C77) in Hall 11, 12-14 Nov. from 8:30-19:30, and 15 Nov. from 8:30-17:00. Also showcased are the Company's complete line of patient monitoring, diagnostic electrocardiograph and OB/GYN products. A separate booth (#K64) in Hall 3 houses Edan's innovative point-of-care testing and in-vitro diagnostics equipment.

The Acclarix LX8 and AX8 ultrasound systems require regulatory clearance, and are not yet commercially available.
