EdgeConneX(R) and Phoenix-IX Partner, Building Node Into the Phoenix Edge Data Center(R)

Partnership With Leading Internet Exchange in Arizona Advances Internet Connectivity in Phoenix Metro Area

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwired - Sep 12, 2016) - EdgeConneX®, specializing in global data center solutions at the Edge of the network, announces today it has partnered with Phoenix Internet Exchange (Phoenix-IX), having built the newly available remote Phoenix-IX node into its Phoenix Edge Data Center® (EDC). Located at 3011 S 52nd Street, Suite 107 in Tempe, Arizona, the expansion is instrumental to the advancement of the local internet community by ensuring dynamic content delivery to local-market consumers.

Offering a new diverse dark fiber path, EdgeConneX provides secure connectivity between the Phoenix-IX node inside its local EDC and the Phoenix-IX core switches. This remote switch enables local EdgeConneX customers, including wireless carriers, service providers, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and enterprises, to have direct access to Phoenix-IX peering services as well as additional offerings, such as Multi-Lateral Peering Agreement (MLPA) route servers and private Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs).

"At EdgeConneX, we strive to enhance connectivity throughout local markets at the Edge of the network, providing customers with ultra-low latency services to their end-users," explains Clint Heiden, chief commercial officer, EdgeConneX. "By introducing the Phoenix-IX node into our Phoenix EDC, we are assisting the growth and evolution of the Phoenix market by providing additional access points to the internet with secure and reliable connectivity to local consumers."

Originally founded by peering participants IOS, Hurricane Electric and PhoenixNAP, Phoenix-IX was established in the fall of 2012 as the first and only peering fabric in Arizona, operated at no monthly port cost to participants. The internet exchange currently utilizes multiple Brocade Switches via Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and BIRD Route Servers with 24x7 monitoring of its peering fabric. Phoenix-IX, which is non-profit and maintained by volunteers, has been the market leader in participants and traffic for some time now.

"We are thrilled to announce our availability within the EdgeConneX Phoenix EDC as we expand our footprint throughout the region with agile and reliable peering services," comments Paul Emmons, executive director, Phoenix-IX. "At Phoenix-IX, we are dedicated to providing peering participants with exceptional interconnectivity opportunities within our growing market."

EdgeConneX is committed to bringing local internet exchanges to all of its Edge Data Centers across the country to enhance connectivity options for each edge market. Phoenix is the fourth Edge Data Center market to deploy such connectivity, following partnerships in Boston with MASS-IX, Minneapolis with MICE and Portland with NWAX.

The EdgeConneX Phoenix EDC has been purpose-built and precisely located in order to provide a secure colocation facility for customers wishing to deliver content and applications to local-market consumers with the lowest possible latency. Partnering with network and cable operators at the local level, the carrier-neutral facility guarantees the shortest and fastest routes for delivering content to local market subscribers and internet customers.
