EdgeWalk at the CN Tower Hosts Wedding of a Lifetime

One of the Highest and Most Unique Weddings in the World

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - September 19, 2013) - Toronto's EdgeWalk at the CN Tower, the world's highest hands-free walk on a building hosted one of the highest and most unique weddings in the world on September 19, 2013 at 8:20am.

Lacy Boland and John Kirk from Barrie, Ontario, were be the first to be married on the edge of one of the world's greatest man-made wonders, 356m/1168ft (116 storeys) above the ground. The wedding party included a Minister, a wedding party of four as well as their parents.

"We've certainly had a lot of interest in being the first to wed on EdgeWalk and we're excited to bring Lacy and John the wedding of a lifetime," said Jack Robinson, Chief Operating Officer of the CN Tower. "EdgeWalk now joins the exclusive list of the world's most unique locations to be married."

"We always wanted a memorable wedding and what could be more exciting than to have it on EdgeWalk!" said Lacy and John. "Our wedding seemed to be a distant dream as our three wonderful children have always come first. We feel truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful experience."

Special safety walksuits designed for the occasion included a white suit for the bride, pink for bridesmaids and tuxedos. For safety reasons, specially designed elasticized rings were exchanged symbolically on the EdgeWalk itself and the actual wedding bands were exchanged back on the ground in the presence of family and friends. After the ceremony, the couple took photos and were joined by family and friends at the CN Tower's 360 Restaurant for a celebratory lunch. A wedding cake featured a custom designed topper resembling the couple on EdgeWalk.

Earlier this summer hundreds entered for a chance to win this unique opportunity in partnership with Toronto morning show, Breakfast Television.

The first of its kind in North America, EdgeWalk is the world's highest external walk on a building, a full circle hands-free walk on a 5 ft (1.5 m) wide ledge encircling the top of the CN Tower's main pod. Thrill seekers walk in groups of six, while attached to an overhead safety rail via a trolley and harness system. EdgeWalk receives enthusiastic local and international interest and having achieved "bucket list" status, has earned a place among the world's greatest attractions. Since EdgeWalk first opened, many have organized unique proposal, birthday, and anniversary celebration EdgeWalks. EdgeWalkers as young as 13 and as young at heart as 90 have experienced EdgeWalk.

EdgeWalk first opened to the public in 2011. On November 8, 2011 EdgeWalk at the CN Tower was presented with the Guinness World Record for the "Highest External Walk on a Building". Visit edgewalkcntower.ca for details and available dates.
