Edmonton Economic Development Corporation: Oil Sands Session Gathers Top Industry Presenters

Educational event targets non-energy industry audience

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - June 1, 2011) - Take part in a half-day p rogram entitled " Oil sands: What's really going on?" on June 21 (8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Shaw Conference Centre) to learn about the oil sands and how they affect Greater Edmonton.

Jointly organized by Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, topics include Alberta in the world context, oil sands production, value-added manufacturing, mitigating environmental effects, and the industry's future. Suncor Energy CEO Rick George will deliver the keynote address to conclude the event.

The program, which features a blue-ribbon panel of chief executives from the energy industry, is targeted at non-oil and gas industry, business, tourism and community leaders, senior non-technical government representatives, and associations — anyone interested in Alberta's oil sands.
