Edmonton Economic Development Corporation: Symposium Shines Light on Downtown Developments

Diverse program of developers, planners at Downtown X-posed

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Dec. 12, 2011) - For the first time, current and planned downtown Edmonton developments will be presented in one setting. The community-led Downtown Vibrancy Task Force presents Downtown X-posed, a wide-ranging one-day symposium that looks at what is going on in the heart of the city and what is in the works, as well as discusses urban design and development.

"The vibrancy and character of a community's downtown shape its identity," says Simon O'Byrne, chair of the task force. "A strong downtown is fundamental to the strength of a city."

Sponsored by Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and City of Edmonton, presenters include developers, planners and other downtown proponents. Speakers include urban designer Ken Greenberg on city-building.

Date: Thursday, December 15
Time: 8 am to 3:30 pm
Place: Shaw Conference Centre Hall D, 9797 Jasper Avenue
