Edmonton Named as Host for the 2010 Country Music Week and CCMA Awards

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - March 13, 2008) - The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) announced today Edmonton, Alberta as the host city for the 2010 Country Music Week and the CCMA Awards. Country Music Week and the CCMA's have not been held in Edmonton since 2004.

Giving us a little taste of what we can expect during Country Music Week, Alberta recording artist Brett Kissel performed. Continuing the celebration CCMA's Chair of the Board of Directors Heather Ostertag, presented Mayor Stephen Mandel, with a special award to commemorate Edmonton's successful bid for Canadian country music's biggest week.

"Edmonton has always been a most gracious host for Country Music Week and the CCMA Awards," said Ostertag. "We thank the host committee for their outstanding bid, congratulate them on their success and we look forward to retuning in 2010".

Mayor Mandel responded that "The City of Edmonton is honoured to host the 2010 Country Music Awards. It further solidifies Edmonton's reputation for hosting amazing events and we welcome all the key players in the country music industry to Edmonton. It will be a fantastic ending to Country Music Week here in Edmonton".

Also on hand for the announcement were Co-Chairs of the Edmonton Host Committee, Dave Majeski and Dr. Bob Steadward.

Country Music Week 2010 in Edmonton will take place September 10-13 with the CCMA Awards to be held on September 13. Before heading to Edmonton, the CCMA will celebrate Country Music Week in Winnipeg in 2008 and Vancouver in 2009.
