Edmonton's Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation and University of Calgary announce research partnership

Cross-provincial initiative to benefit pregnant and postpartum women and the health of their children

EDMONTON, AB--(Marketwired - September 12, 2016) - On Wednesday, September 14, the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation in Edmonton and the University Calgary Faculty of Nursing will announce a research partnership focused on perinatal mental health. Perinatal health refers to mental health concerns present in mothers during pregnancy or postpartum.

Dawn Kingston (RN PhD) will accept the faculty's fifth research chair, The Lois Hole Hospital for Women Cross-Provincial Chair in Perinatal Mental Health. A noted nursing researcher in this area, Kingston studied the cases of patients in the perinatal program at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women before accepting a professorship earlier this year at the University of Calgary.
