EFFISOFT: SNCF automates claims management thanks to WebRisk

PARIS, FRANCE--(Marketwire - Jan 30, 2012) - SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français or National Corporation of French Railways) is France's national state-owned railway company. SNCF operates the country's national rail services, including the TGV, France's high- speed rail network. Its functions include operation of rail services for passengers and freight, and maintenance and signalling of rail infrastructure owned by Réseau Ferré de France (RFF).

In 2008, SNCF launched an RFP, in order to replace its current claims management systems. The principle objective was to acquire software that would enable the consolidation of claims data into a central information system. In summary, the solution requirement was to manage in excess of 15,000 claims per year, split among losses incurred by SNCF (for example, malicious damage, theft, third party damage.). Importantly, the chosen provider should tailor the solution to conform to SNCF's business logic.

Effisoft was selected and WebRisk was then deployed in September 2009.

WebRisk is a risk and insurance management system permanently accessible to its users via the Internet. It facilitates information exchange, thanks to access rights that are allocated to users.

Mr Alain GUYARD, risk and insurance manager at SNCF, explains the selection of WebRisk as follows: "Effisoft was able to adapt WebRisk's standard version to the precise requirements of SNCF (submit a claim online, management of claims per train line, analytical accounting practices .). This customisation has considerably helped users to be comfortable using the system".

As an initial stage, Effisoft collected and migrated 4 years historic SNCF data into WebRisk and then interfaced the platform with SNCF's accounting information system (PeopleSoft), in order to collect financial data related to incidents.

The next development was beyond the scope of the initial project, but in view of the initial success, SNCF subsequently decided to extend their use of WebRisk in 2010 by integrating their loss prevention management. This included managing risk engineering reports, recommendation implementation monitoring, consolidation of visit reports, analysis...

In 2011, SNCF decided to pursue its collaboration with Effisoft by developing a new project for insurance policies (generation of global dashboards to efficiently drive the activity).

WebRisk is now used by 600 employees at a national level: 500 local officers who report claims, 90 officers in various insurance departments and 10 users at headquarters. A nominated user at head office manages the system administration.

Advantages of such a system are undoubtedly significant: optimised data processing, both for consolidating data and accounting reconciliation and better security of exchange procedures. Maryse DELUMEAU, SNCF's Risk and Insurance Deputy Manager and Project Manager of Insurance & Claim Management Systems emphasises that WebRisk "has strongly improved claims costs management at SNCF, and allowed us to generate detailed reports".
