EGANVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 15, 2013) - On July 18, 2013, Don Roesner, of Eganville, Ontario, pleaded guilty to permitting distress regarding a beef cow.
Ontario SPCA Officers responded to a complaint on December 28, 2012, regarding a beef-type cow that was down and had been in that condition for several weeks. Orders were issued to Mr. Roesner to seek veterinary care. He elected to euthanize the cow.
Mr. Roesner was ordered to pay a fine of $500.
"Anyone who is not sure how to treat an injured or sick animal is urged to contact their local Ontario SPCA Branch. We can discuss the best possible way to help the animal in question," said Larry Wilkinson, Senior Inspector.
